BY: Tony LiebertEveryone loves to talk about the top prospects like Kyler Murray, Nick Bosa and Dwayne Haskins. It gets old after a while so I will tell about some more interesting prospects. Players who just missed the cut:
5. Jalen Hurd, WR, Baylor Jalen Hurd is one of the most interesting prospects in this entire Draft. He was originally a running back at the University of Tennessee where he was quite successful. Hurd ran for 2,635 yards and 20 touchdowns along with 492 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns in 3 seasons in Knoxville. In his Junior season was getting the bulk of the carriers ahead of some guy named Alvin Kamara. After Hurd’s Junior season where he was battling a nagging ankle injury, he decided that he couldn’t handle to brutal pounding you receive at the running back position. So he went into the coaching office and asked them if he could to switch to receiver. This switch made sense because Hurd is 6’4” 235 pounds which is way too big for a running back. In comparison Derrick Henry who is viewed as the biggest running back in the NFL is “only” 6’3” 238 pounds. But Tennessee’s coaching staff didn’t want Hurd to make the position change, and gave him the option to transfer… He did just that, and decided to transfer to Baylor University. Jalen Hurd was required to sit out for a full season due to NCAA transfer rules, which is just ridiculous, but that’s a different story. Overall I think the year off helped Hurd’s transition to WR be a little smoother. During his one season at Baylor Hurd showed he can be productive at the D1 level finishing with only 69 catches... for 946 yards and 4 touchdowns. Hurd’s combination of insane work ethic and maturity beyond his years makes him a prospect that I would do everything I could to have him on my NFL team. Picture above: (left to right) Jalen Hurd, Alvin Kamara, Josh Dobbs 4. Andy Isabella, WR, UMass If Jalen Hurd is my favorite wide receiver Andy Isabella is a close second. Isabella may not be the same physical specimen as some receivers in the draft, he is only 5’9” 188 pounds. What he lacks in size he makes up in production. Last year at Massachusetts Isabella finished with 102 receptions (2nd in the country), 1,698 yards (1st in the country) and lastly 13 touchdowns. At UMass he put together some of the best film out of any wide receiver in this class. He showed that he is an incredibly fluid route runner, with the ability to run almost any route in the book, while also showing unbelievably consistent hands. Even though he played against a lower level of competition at UMass Isabella showed he can be a very productive wide receiver at the next level. Even though Isabella lacks physical size, he still is unbelievably athletic. At the combine he ran 4.31 which ranked him second among wide receivers. Some may project him as a slot receiver, but I could see him more as a Brandin Cooks like receiver on the outside. He has shown great ball tracking skills that would definitely translate to the next level. In this year’s draft there are plenty of receivers that are incredibly raw with great athleticism. But I think Isabella may be the most polished, and could become the biggest steal of this years draft. 3. Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma Marquise Brown is the only “sure-fire” first round pick that I have on this list… but it’s for good reason. “Hollywood” Brown was playing Junior College football at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita only three years ago. He struggled to get FBS schools to even come watch him, if you think he’s small now, during his time at JUCO Brown was 5’9” 140 pounds… yes 140. During his time at College of the Canyons his own coaches begged for FBS schools to come take a look at Brown, eventually they did and during a workout in front of the D1 coaches he ran a 4.33 and then EVERYONE wanted him. Marquise Brown eventually decided to attend Oklahoma university. During his time at Oklahoma Brown “bulked-up” to a respectable 166. At Oklahoma all Brown did was produce. During his first season in Norman, Brown had 57 catches for 1095 yards and 7 touchdowns. He showed the entire country that he has the potential to get to the end zone every time he touches the ball. During Brown’s next season, with all of the hype… he did not disappoint. He finished with 75 catches 1318 yards and 10 touchdowns. During last season’s Big 12 Championship game, Brown suffered a Lisfranc injury (fractured foot), and was not able to play the rest of the game. This is relevant because when Brown’s team needed him most, in the College Football Playoff semi-final he decided to suit up and play, when he was risking his future health. This shows me that Brown is fully committed to football and will put the team in front of anything else. Every NFL team seems to seek the “game-breaking” receiver, like Tyreek Hill, T.Y. Hilton or Antonio Brown (Marquise’s Cousin). I think that Marquise will be in this conversation of receivers when it is all said and done. 2. Will Grier, QB, West Virginia Will Grier is one of the most disrespected players in this entire draft. During his two seasons at West Virginia Grier was arguably the most productive QB in the country. People like to bash the Big 12 saying their numbers are inflated due to the lack of defense, but the same people are saying Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes are the two best young quarterbacks in the league (who both attended Big 12 colleges). Grier originally attended Florida University where as a Freshman he appeared in 6 games and threw for 1202 yards and 10 touchdowns. Grier was later dismissed from the University, due to testing positive for a banned substance. Grier’s time is Gainesville was short, but you could tell he was special. Grier later decided to transfer to West Virginia, where he started playing at after one year of sitting out. In Morgantown Grier put together back-to-back monster seasons in Dana Holgersons’ offense. In his Junior season Grier threw for 3490 yards, and 34 touchdowns in only 11, games after missing the last 3 due to a wrist injury. Going into his Senior year Grier had tremendous expectations. Including preseason All-American honors. Grier lived up to those expectations, he threw for 3864 yards and 37 touchdowns to go along with a 67% completion percentage. After losing the first game of the season to rival Virginia Tech, Grier lead the Mountaineers to 7 straight wins and an 8-4 record on the season. He capped of the season with a 4th place finish in the Heisman. People like to state that Grier “lacks” arm strength, but I don’t understand how anyone in their right mind thinks that. In every year Grier proved he was one of if not THE best deep ball thrower in the country. Grier has the "it-factor" and the leadership to lead an NFL franchise. Will Grier is more than able of being a starting QB in the NFL and is easily the most under-appreciated player in this draft class. 1. Tyree Jackson, QB, Buffalo Tyree Jackson may be my favorite prospect in this entire Draft. He stands at a whopping 6’7” 249 pounds. At the NFL scouting combine Jackson showed that his monstrous size will not effect his athleticism. At the combine Jackson ran a 4.59 forty yard dash which would rank him second out of quarterbacks and at a position that his size would more project him at, tight end… Jackson would’ve have been third. In the Vertical jump test, Jackson tested at 34.5” inches. Which put him first among quarterbacks. He also was first among QBs in broad jump with 10 feet. So he definitely has shown that he is the most athletic QB in this class. The main reason why scouts are low on Tyree Jackson is his inconsistent and erratic accuracy on almost all of his throws. The main reason that I am all is on Jackson is, that he recently and came out and said prior to his preparation for the NFL draft, "he has never had a private throwing/quarterback coach." Which is unbelievably rare. From what I know nearly every single division 1 quarterback had a throwing coach sometimes starting as early as 5th grade. And Jackson taught himself from watching Tom Brady YouTube videos... During Jackson’s draft process he has been one of the prospects featured on and ESPN series, called draft academy. I obviously am not a scout therefore I don’t get the same resources that an NFL scout would, but on the series Jackson has looked incredibly eager to soak up all the information he can from trainer Jordan Palmer. He also seems like a very well put together man, and very mature beyond his years. Which would make him a prospect that I would love to develop. Jackson’s on field production at Buffalo showed that he does have the potential to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Last season in his 3rd full season as a starter Jackson passed for 3,133 yards and 28 touchdowns while rushing for 7 more touchdowns. While putting up great numbers Jackson led Buffalo to a 10-4 record and birth in Dollar General Bowl where they suffered a tough loss against Troy. There has not yet been a successful 6’7” quarterback in the NFL, and it really wouldn’t be very practical to have a QB so large. Although Jackson may not be a starting QB right away I know if he is put into the right situation he can develop much faster than any scout would have predicted... excecpt for me.

BY: Tony LiebertThis year NCCA Tournament started out slow, but it sure has heated up as of late. The Final Four terrific storylines, Michigan State is the team who is always in big games, Virginia is coming off of being the first one seed to get upset in the first round by a 16 seed. And Texas Tech and Auburn are two of the hottest teams in the country. April 6th, 2019 5:09 pm. CT #1 VIRGINIA (33-3) vs. #5 AUBURN (30-9) VIRGINIA CAVALIERS Virginia’s Previous tournament games: - (Round of 64) vs. #16 Gardner Webb: 71-56 - (Round of 32) vs. #9 Oklahoma: 63-51 - (Sweet 16) vs. #12 Oregon 53-49 - (Elite 8) vs. #3 Purdue 80-75 F/OT Virginia comes into the Final Four as the only one seed left in the tournament. Virginia has only lost three basketball games this season, two of them were against Duke, and the third was a tough loss against Florida State in the ACC tournament. The Cavaliers are led by three main players. Their “big-3” is junior guard Kyle Guy (15.2 PPG, 42.7 3P%), sophomore forward Deandre Hunter 14.9 PPG, 5 RPG), and junior point guard Ty Jerome (13.3 PPG, 5.4 APG). Virginia has always been known as one of the best defensive teams in the country, for as long as Tony Bennett has been their head coach. This year is no different, Virginia has held their teams to an average of 55.4 points per-game which is number one in the country. This year Virginia’s offense is much more complete than it ever has been. They still play at their normal “slow paced” level offense, but they have three offensive studs. Kyle Guy was recently named a 3rd team AP-All American. Guy may be the best 3-point shooter in the entire country, he has shot 42.7 percent from the arc this season which was 19th in the country. He had more 3 point attempts than any of the 19 players ahead of him so I’d consider him the most efficient 3 point shooter in the country. Ty Jerome is one of the most complete point guards in the entire country. This year Jerome is 6th in the country in turnover to assist ratio 3.24. Jerome is also very active on the defensive end averaging 1.5 steals a game. All of this has led to Jerome having a very good chance of being drafted in the first round next season. Jerome and Guy may be the best backcourt left in the tournament. DeAndre Hunter is the most talented player on Virginia. Hunter was recently named the NABC (national association of basketball coaches) defensive player of the year. Hunter is one of the most well rounded players in the country which will lead him to being a top 5 pick in next year’s draft. Pictured above: (left to right) Kyle Guy, DeAndre Hunter, Ty Jerome AUBURN TIGERS Auburn’s previous tournament games: (Round of 64) vs. #12 New Mexico State 78-77 (Round of 32) vs. #4 Kansas 89-75 (Sweet 16) vs. #1 North Carolina 97-80 (Elite 8) vs. #2 Kentucky 77-71 Auburn came into this year’s tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country which they turned into a final four run. Auburn was the 5th seed in their own conference tournament. They headed into the postseason 4 game win streak and a big win against 4th ranked Tennessee. In the SEC tournament Auburn started out by taking down Missouri, then South Carolina, then Florida, and lastly Tennessee in the championship. Auburn is known as one of the best offenses in the entire country. They’re the best 3 point shooting team in the country averaging 11.4 makes per game. Auburn played most of the season with talented trio, senior guard Bryce Brown (16 PPG, 1.1 SPG), junior point guard Jared Harper (15.4 PPG, 5.8 APG), and sophomore big man Chuma Okeke (12 PPG, 6.8 RPG). Unfortunately Chuma Okeke suffered a torn ACL against North Carolina, and will be out for the rest of the season. The backcourt duo of Jared Harper and Bryce Brown are one the most underrated in the entire country, which played a large part in Auburn making a run into the Final Four. Both Harper and Brown are incredibly quick and terrific at creating their own shot. Pictured above: (left to right): Bryce Brown, Jared Harper Prediction: Virginia and Auburn’s talented guards will both be able to put up points and play their own game against each other. The X-Factor on Virginia’s side will be DeAndre Hunter. If Hunter is on his game and making shots, I don’t see a way that Virginia loses this game. If Auburn wants to pull the upset in this game they will need to find offensive production after Harper and Brown. I expect Virginia’s defense will slow down Auburn’s prolific offense, Auburn’s insane 3-point shooting streak will finally end. and Virginia will advance to the championship game. SCORE: Virginia: 72 Auburn: 60 April 6th, 2019 7:49 pm. CT. #2 MICHIGAN STATE (32-6) vs. #3 TEXAS TECH (30-6) MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS Michigan State’s previous tournament games: - (Round of 64) vs. #15 Bradley 76-65 - (Round of 32) vs. #10 Minnesota 70-50 - (Sweet 16) vs. #3 LSU 80-63 - (Elite 8) vs. #1 Duke 68-67 This will be Michigan State’s head coach Tom Izzo’s 8th final four appearance during his time in East Lansing. As Michigan State always is, this season they’re a well rounded team led by mostly veteran players. They came into the tournament as winner of the Big 10 regular season and tournament titles. The Spartans have depth at almost every position and if anything their weakness would just be consistency. Junior guard Cassius Winston (18.9 PPG, 7.6 APG) has been the heart and soul of their team all year. They also have great front court depth led by junior Nick Ward (13.2 PPG, 6.1 RPG), sophomore Xavier Tillman (10.1 PPG, 7.3 RPG), and senior Kenny Goins (8.1 PPG, 9 RPG). Point guard Cassius Winston is one the best point guards and players in the entire country. Winston was the Big 10 player of the year, first team all-american, and Wooden Award (player of the year) finalist. Cassius has been tough to stop for opposing point guards all season. The strength of Michigan State’s team is their front court. They have terrific depth led by Nick Ward who has been battling a hand injury in the second half of the season, to go along with great rebounders Xavier Tillman and Kenny Goins. The Spartans are tied for fifth in blocked shots per game, and ninth in rebounds per game. Their front court has been one of the best in the country all season. Pictured above: Cassius Winston TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS Texas Tech’s previous tournament games: - (Round of 64) vs. #14 Northern Kentucky 72-57 - (Round of 32) vs. #6 Buffalo 78-58 - (Sweet 16) vs. #2 Michigan 63-44 - (Elite 8) vs. #1 Gonzaga 75-69 If Virginia is the best defensive team in the country Texas Tech is a close second. They have allowed 59 points per game this season, which is third in the country. They have had one of the best seasons in program history winning the Big 12 regular season title. Texas Tech is a guard led team, starting with sophomore Jarrett Culver (18.9 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 3.7 APG), sophomore Davide Moretti (11.6 PPG, 46.3 3P%), and senior Matt Mooney (11 PPG, 3.4 APG). Texas Tech is 7th in the country in scoring margin, winning by an average of 13.9 points per game. The Red Raiders have had a very dominant path coming into the Final Four, only being challenged by Gonzaga in the Elite 8. Winning by 15+ every game before that. If Texas Tech can play at their pace they’re one of the toughest teams to beat in the entire country. The success of Texas Tech has came when their role players after Jarrett Culver have performed well. Davide Moretti is one of the best shooters in the country, Matt Mooney is classic hard-nosed college point guard, lastly Texas Tech’s paint is patrolled by Tariq Owens who has averaged 2.4 blocks per game which is 12th in the country. When this trio plays well Texas Tech has almost been unbeatable this season. Jarrett Culver has been one of the most improved players in the country this season. He was awarded Big 12 player of the year, and second team all-american. He increased his scoring from 11.2 per game last season to 18.9 this season. He has been one of the best shot creators in the country. Culver has played himself into being a probable top 10 pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Pictured above: Texas Tech celebrating after defeating Gonzaga in the West Regional final. Prediction: The matchup to watch in this game will be Michigan State’s Matt McQuaid vs. Texas Tech’s Jarrett Culver. I don’t think McQuaid will be able to slow down Culver which will be tough to come back from for the Spartans. On the other side I think Matt Mooney and Davide Moretti will be able to slow down Cassius Winston enough, for Culver to take over on the other side. Texas Tech’s dominant run will not be slowing down and they will carry it into a National Championship appearance. Score: Texas Tech: 67 Michigan State: 62 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: Monday, April 8th, 2019 8:00 pm. CT #1 VIRGINIA vs. #3 TEXAS TECH Prediction: In this game I think Virginia’s high scoring knockdown shooting back court will be very tough to stop for Texas Tech, and too much for their sup-par back court to defend. Jarrett Culver will most likely be guarded by the countries best perimeter defender DeAndre Hunter, and it will take a lot for Culver to be successful. I think Texas Tech will struggle to find offense and Virginia will be cutting down the nets in Minneapolis. Score: Virginia 67 Texas Tech: 60 Pictured above: Virginia head coach Tony Bennett

Every basketball fan, and basically every person who has watched sports, knows about the infamous Ball family. It’s the trio of young basketball stars out of Chino Hills, California: Lonzo, LiAngelo, and Lamelo. Above all this is the debatably the biggest name of them all, Lavar Ball. Built off the success of his sons in basketball star, Lavar created Big Baller Brand. Through his ignorant persona he promoted this brand. The brand spread like wildfire with differing opinions from all sorts of people. From selling overpriced, low quality shoes to selling their own branded water.
Recently the brand has took a turn for the worse. Co-founder of the sneaker and apparel
company, Alan Foster, is in hot water with the family over the missing of $1.5 million and concerns over his criminal history. This caused Lonzo Ball to sever ties with the company, that has used his name and persona to brand the company. Lonzo Ball told ESPN that, “Foster has used his access to my business and personal finances to enrich himself.” Lonzo confirmed this decision by posting a picture on his Instagram of him in a Nike jersey saying he is onto bigger and better things.
To add to the drama rumours have travelled that Lonzo’s ankle issues could be due to
wearing his own signature Big Baller Brand shoes. This may come as no surprise to many who have noted that the shoes are made at a low standard of quality. Lonzo’s manager added fuel to the flame with a video of him throwing away a pair of Big Baller Brand shoes down the garbage with the hashtag “#dumpurmerch”.
After all of this news about Lonzo and Big Baller Brand, Lonzo decided to get a cover up for his tattoo. The tattoo featured the trademark “BBB” logo, and was covered up to now be a pair of dice. Not only do the dice look terrible, but as the only color on his arm it stands out a lot. This might be the worst look for Big Baller Brand yet, and it leaves us wondering what could have caused Lonzo to go to this extent
BY: Tony LiebertThis year’s NFL free agency has been one of the wildest in recent memory. There were blockbuster trades, big name free agents, and one “headline” move. The NFL will definitely have some different teams in the playoffs next season (as it always does) and these offseason moves will clearly have an effect on the league next season. I decided to rank the moves not necessarily skill or talent of the player acquired. I focused more on the influence that the player will have on their new team. I ranked them by how much they increase their teams Super Bowl chances. As with every free agency period there are moves that don’t necessarily receive the publicity of media attention they deserve, and I think there were plenty this year. Underrated Moves (in order): - S Adrian Amos signing with the Green Bay Packers - RB Mark Ingram signing with the Baltimore Ravens - DT Malik Jackson signing with the Philadelphia Eagles - WR Devin Funchess signing with the Indianapolis Colts - OT Ty Nsheke signing with the Buffalo Bills - RB Tevin Coleman signing with San Francisco 49ers - RB Carlos Hyde signing with the Kansas City Chiefs There are also overrated moves every year. I don’t necessarily think these players are bad, I just think they were overpaid, or they’re just viewed as better players than they actually are. Overrated Moves: - ILB Kwon Alexander signing with the San Francisco 49ers - The Denver Broncos trading for RB Joe Flacco - LB Clay Matthews signing with the Los Angeles Rams - OT Trent Brown signing with the Oakland Raiders #10 The Philadelphia Eagles trading for WR Desean Jackson… and then extending him. Full Trade Details: Buccaneers Receive- - 2019 6th Round Pick Eagles Receive- - 2020 7th Round Pick - WR Desean Jackson Contract Details: - 3 years $27.9 million ($15 million guaranteed) Desean Jackson’s prime of his career was definitely on the Eagles and now he will be returning to Philadelphia. The Eagles clearly lacked a deep ball threat last season, and Jackson will certainly help in that area next season. The Eagles are currently lacking a definitive culture, after their whole QB situation last season between Nick Foles, and Carson Wentz. And I think bringing back Jackson shows Wentz and the rest of the franchise that they are committed to the team they currently have. #9 OLB Justin Houston signing with the Indianapolis Colts. Contract Details: - 2 years $24 million ($18.5 million guaranteed) The Colts made a deep playoff run last season, with really not much talent on the defensive side of the ball. Every NFL team definitely needs an elite level pass rusher in today’s modern NFL. Houston is another veteran player being 30 years old, and his career is clearly on a decline. But I do think Houston can still contribute pro-bowl level snaps when the the Colts need him most. Houston will improve the Colts defense next season, and may lead to another deep playoff run, with hopefully better results. #8 TE Jared Cook signing with the New Orleans Saints. Contract Details: - 2 years $15.5 million ($8 million guaranteed) Last season the Saints clearly looked like one of the best offenses in the NFL, and if it weren’t for a blown call they would’ve been in the Super Bowl. If there were a hole in the Saints offense last season it clearly was tight end. Cook is coming off a pro-bowl level season where he had 68 receptions, 896 yards, and 6 touchdowns. Even though Cook is no 31 years old, I think the Saints’ offense will have a great tight end for the next two seasons, and they will look even more unstoppable next season. #7 S Landon Collins signing with the Washington Redskins. Contract Details: - 6 years $84 million ($26 million guaranteed) Landon Collins was surprisingly let go by the New York Giants, then he didn’t last long on the free agency market. Signing Collins is a great move for the Redskins. They quietly have a very underrated defense, and their biggest weakness may have been safety, so they decided to go out and sign one of the best in the NFL. I really like this move, but a terrific defense can only go so far, without a star quarterback. Therefore this move COULD be terrific but I think the Redskins still need to add a competent quarterback before they can make a playoff run. #6 S Tyrann Mathieu signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Contract Details: - 3 years $42 million ($26.8 million guaranteed) This offseason the Chiefs decided to move on from all-pro safety Eric Berry. So they clearly needed to add to their horrible secondary. I think the “honey badger” is a great replacement for Berry. If Earl Thomas is the most versatile safety in the NFL, Mathieu is definitely top three. He has shown the ability the make tackles, cover tight ends, and play traditional free safety at a very high level. I think the three year $42 million dollar deal is almost a bit of bargain, and I think the addition of Mathieu will lead to an improved Chiefs secondary next season. #5 RB Le’Veon Bell signing with the New York Jets. Contract Details: - 4 years $52.5 million ($27 million guaranteed) This move is a bit confusing for Le’Veon Bell… but that’s a different conversation. For the Jets on the other hand this is a terrific move. I think Bell is the number two running back in the NFL, and will perform at that level for the Jets. New York has decided that Sam Darnold is their QB of the future, and adding weapons to your offense is the best thing that you can do for a young QB. I think adding Bell will lead to a much improved Sam Darnold next season, and could be the beginning of a great NFL career, and a new era in New York with new head coach Adam Gase. #4 The San Francisco 49ers trading for OLB Dee Ford… and then extending him. Full Trade Details: Chiefs Receive- - 2020 Second Round pick 49ers Receive- - OLB Dee Ford Contract Details: - 5 years $85 million ($19.75 million guaranteed) The Chiefs originally decided to franchise tag Ford, but then made it public that they were open to trading him. The 49ers didn’t wait long, and GM John Lynch decided to make a big move. Dee Ford is coming off a breakout season where he had 13 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. The 49ers have been missing a dominant pass rusher for years and this move tells me that they are going “all in” on this season, and the future. Even though Ford has only had one season with 10+ sacks I think this move improves the 49ers defense and their chance at a deep playoff run. #3 The Raiders trading for WR Antonio Brown… and then extending him. Full Trade Details: Steelers Receive- - 2019 3rd round (66th overall pick) - 2019 5th round (141st overall pick) Raiders Receive- - WR Antonio Brown Contract Details: - 3 year $50.1 million ($30.1 million guaranteed) Some people may look at this move and think it may be overrated, or that, “Antonio Brown is a locker room cancer, he is 30 years old, and now he’s being overpaid.” Even though all those may be true, this was a move the Raiders needed to make. Antonio Brown is without a doubt a top three wide receiver in the NFL, and a third and a fifth round pick is not really a risk whatsoever. John Gruden and the Raiders now have their star player when they make their move to Las Vegas, and a great weapon for Derek Carr, in a season that I can see Oakland making a decision if Carr is their QB of the future. Some may say 50.1 million is way too much of an overpay and I think that it might be but, a three year deal is not much of a commitment. This move needed to be made, and has little to no risk for the Raiders. #2 S Earl Thomas signing with the Baltimore Ravens. Contract Details: - 4 year $55 million ($32 million guaranteed) To start the NFL free agency period the Ravens decided to release veteran safety Eric Weddle. Therefore they were definitely in the market for a safety. They decided to sign arguably the best one in the league. Although Thomas is 30 years old and coming off of a broken leg. There is no doubt that he is one of the most versatile players in the NFL. The Ravens lost the heart of their defense with C.J. Mosely, Eric Weddle, and Z’Darius Smith all leaving in free agency. I think they NEEDED to make a splash move on the defensive side of the ball, and they sure did. #1 The Cleveland Browns trading for WR Odell Beckham Jr. Full Trade Details: Giants Receive- - 2019 1st round (17th overall pick) - 2019 3rd round (95th overall pick) - OG Kevin Zeitler - S Jabrill Peppers Browns Receive- - WR Odell Beckham Jr. - DE/OLB Olivier Vernon If you were living under a rock, one of the NFL’s top receivers Odell Beckham Jr was traded to the Cleveland Browns, which was the “headline move” of this year’s free agency. With this move the Browns added a true number one receiver, whom I believe is not a so called “headache” or “cry baby” or whatever you would call him. OBJ was in the worst situation possible in the NFL with the New York Giants and I think that he will thrive in Cleveland with a fresh start. The Browns also added another pro-bowl caliber pass rusher Olivier Vernon. Vernon may not put up monster sack totals but he will be a terrific compliment on the other side of Myles Garrett. Although losing veteran guard Kevin Zeitler is a significant loss I don’t think the Giants really gave up much else. Jabrill Peppers an overrated safety, to go along with a first and third round pick is a heist for the Browns by adding a top three wide receiver in the NFL. BY: Tony LiebertThis years College Basketball season has been nothing short of spectacular. Now it's time for the greatest postseason in all of sports... FIRST FOUR (March 19-20) #16 NC Central vs. #16 North Dakota State NC Central won the MEAC conference tournament, and NDSU won the Summit League. I think NC Central seems to have always been in the tournament, and I think their experience takes them over the Bison. Prediction: NC Central #11 Belmont vs. #11 Temple Belmont is one of the most talented mid majors in the country. They are led by NBA prospect Dylan Windler. Temple has been quite inconsistent this year but they are led by talented guard Shizz Alston Jr. I think Belmont takes down Temple in a close one. Prediction: Belmont Dylan Windler following a big win for Belmont. #16 Fairleigh Dickinson vs. #16 Prairie View A&M Prairie View A&M started the year 0-11 and they are now 21-12, that insane streak makes me think they advance to the round of 64 Prediction: Prairie View A&M #11 Arizona State vs. #11 Saint John's Saint John's has one of the most exciting players in the country Shamorie Ponds. I think St. John's struggles on the defensive end which will lead to Arizona State and HC Bob Hurley taking home the win. Prediction: Arizona State Round 1 (Round of 64) East Region #1 Duke vs. #16 NC Central Duke loosing to NC Central would be the greatest upset in history of modern sport. Prediction: Duke #8 VCU vs. #9 UCF UCF has one of the most polarizing players in the country 7'7" Tacko Fall. But I think UCF's recent inconsistency will be too much to get over. VCU played very well against many tournament teams, and I think the Rams advance to the round of 32. Prediction: VCU #5 Mississippi State vs. #12 Liberty Mississippi State is led talented guards Quinndary Weatherspoon, and Lamar Peters. I think that one two combo will be too much to handle for a slow paced Liberty team. Prediction: Mississippi State #4 Virginia Tech vs. #13 Saint Louis Virginia Tech is led by great defense and three point shooting. They have two talented guards Nickeil Alexander-Walker, to go along with Justin Robinson who is returning from injury. The Hokies will be too much to handle for Saint Louis. Prediction: Virginia Tech #6 Maryland vs. #11 Belmont I think Dylan Windler and Belmont will be one the cinderella stories of this tournament. I think they will add another win against Maryland. Prediction: Belmont #3 LSU vs. #14 Yale LSU's head coach Will Wade is currently suspended for "reportedly" paying his players. I think Yale's NBA guard Miye Oni to along with LSU's controversy, will be too much to overcome and Yale will get the upset. Prediction: Yale Ivy League player of the year, guard Miye Oni #7 Louisville vs. #10 Minnesota Minnesota has been playing their best basketball of the season as of late with Jordan Murphy bullying opposing teams in the post, and I think head coach Richard Pitino will want to make his father proud defeating his old team. Prediction: Minnesota #2 Michigan State vs. #15 Bradley Bradley will be incredibly outmatched in this game and expect Michigan State to roll. Prediction: Michigan State Round 2 (Round of 32) #1 Duke vs. #8 VCU Although VCU is a very underrated team, they don't have enough fire power to slow down Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett, and Cam Reddish. Prediction: Duke #4 Virginia Tech vs. #5 Mississippi State I think the combo of Alexander-Walker, and Justin Robinson, will be too much to handle for Lamar Stephens, and Quinndary Weatherspoon, and Virginia Tech will advance to the Sweet 16. Prediction: Virginia Tech #11 Belmont vs. #14 Yale Dylan Windler vs. Miye Oni would be and incredibly underrated matchup. Belmont's depth will lead them overtop of Yale. Prediction: Belmont #2 Michigan State vs. #10 Minnesota Minnesota's horrendous three point shooting will catch up to them, and Michigan State PG Cassius Winston will take advantage of Minnesota not having a true point guard. Prediction: Michigan State Cassius Winston, Michigan State point guard. Sweet 16 (Round of 16) #1 Duke vs. #4 Virginia Tech Duke is 333rd in the country in 3 point percentage... that is out of 351 teams. I think Duke's putrid shooting will lead to them getting upset, and Virginia Tech is the team to do it. They are great defensively and top 10 in 3 point shooting, while having two talented guards Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Justin Robinson to lean back on. Prediction: Virginia Tech Justin Robinson (left) Nickeil Alexander-Walker (right) Virginia Tech's star tandem of guards. #2 Michigan State vs. #11 Belmont I think Belmont's magic will run out. Cassius Winston is the best point guard in the country and I expect him to facilitate and find Belmonts weaknesses. Prediction: Michigan State Elite 8 (Round of 8) #2 Michigan State vs. #4 Virginia Tech Michigan State is a guard led team, Cassius Winston. To go along with big man Nick Ward. I think Virginia Tech big man can shut down Nick Ward, and like I've said Virginia Tech's guards are very talented. The Hokies and Buzz Williams will be my first team in the final four. Prediction: Virginia Tech Round 1 (Round of 64) West Region #1 Gonzaga vs. #16 Prairie View A&M Gonzaga may be the most talented team in the country behind Duke, I don't expect much of a competition in this one. Prediction: Gonzaga #8 Syracuse vs. #9 Baylor I never like to pick against Syracuse in the tournament, their "famous" 2-3 zone will be too much to handle for Baylor. Prediction: Syracuse #5 Marquette vs. #12 Murray State This might be the most exciting matchup of the first round. Ja Morant, Murray State guard vs. Markus Howard, Big East player of the year. I think Morant gets the best of Marquette and advances to the round of 32. Prediction: Murray State Ja Morant (left) Markus Howard (right). #4 Florida State vs. #13 Vermont Florida State is one of the deepest teams in the country, and is coming off a big ACC tournament performance which will lead to a victory over Vermont. Prediction: Florida State #6 Buffalo vs. #11 Arizona State Buffalo is one of the most talented mid majors in recent memory, and are led by multiple seniors. I think Buffalo's experience from last season taking down Arizona last March, and talented guard C.J. Massinburg will lead to another tournament run. Prediction: Buffalo #3 Texas Tech vs. #14 Northern Kentucky Texas Tech's Jarrett Culver, is one of the most talented players in the country. I think Texas Tech's intense defense will be too much to handle for Northern Kentucky. Prediction: Texas Tech #7 Nevada vs. #10 Florida Nevada is one of the most experienced teams in the country, with their starting lineup averaging an age of 23. I think Jordan Caroline, plus twins Caleb and Cody Martin will take down Florida. Prediction: Nevada #2 Michigan vs. #15 Montana Michigan point guard Zavier Simpson and his patented hook shot will be too much to handle for Montana. Prediction: Michigan Round 2 (Round of 32) #1 Gonzaga vs. #8 Syracuse Gonzaga is led by Japanese born forward Rui Hachimura, elite level shot blocker Brandon Clarke, and terrific point guard Josh Perkins. Gonzaga also just got back Killian Tillie from injury, who is an elite level three point shooter. Gonzaga's fire power will be too much for Syracuse's zone defense. Prediction: Gonzaga Rui Hachimura, Gonzaga forward. #4 Florida State vs. #12 Murray State Murray State's Ja Morant has been arguably the most exciting player in the country this season. Morant will most likely be a top 3 pick in this year's draft. Florida State may be deep, but they don't have a true PG to guard Morant. So I expect the Racers to move onto the sweet 16. Prediction: Murray State #3 Texas Tech vs. #6 Buffalo Buffalo's trio of CJ Massinburg, Nick Perkins, and Jeremy Harris will be to much to handle for Jarrett Culver, and Texas Tech's lack of depth. Prediction: Buffalo #2 Michigan vs. #7 Nevada Historically all four two seeds very rarely make it to the sweet 16 and I think this year will be no different. Nevada's big man Jared Caroline will be too much for Jon Teske or Iggy Brazdekis. I think Nevada will pull the upset here. Prediction: Nevada Sweet 16 (Round of 16) #1 Gonzaga vs. #12 Murray State I think Murray's State's lack of depth catches up with them and their run ends here. Gonzaga's front court of Brandon Clarke, Rui Hachimura, and Killian Tillie, is far superior to Murray State's. Prediction: Gonzaga #6 Buffalo vs. #7 Nevada This was a very tough matchup for me. But I think Nevada having a sweet 16 appearance last year and Buffalo not having a real post presence with lead to a Nevada win. Prediction: Nevada MAC player of the year C.J. Massinburg. Elite 8 (Round of 8) #1 Gonzaga vs. #7 Nevada Both teams have incredible talent and experience and both have a great chance to win. But at the end of the day Gonzaga plays in games like this year after year, and they will pull out a win in a close one. Killian Tillie would be the x-factor. Prediction: Gonzaga Nevada's twin guards Caleb and Cody Martin. Round 1 (Round of 64) South Region #1 Virginia vs. #16 Gardner-Webb Gardner-Webb is no UMBC and I think Virginia will be motivated to win by nearly 1 billion points. Prediction: Virginia #8 Ole Miss vs. #9 Oklahoma Both of these teams have been incredibly mediocre this year. I expect Oklahoma's three point shooting and guard Brady Manek to take them past Ole Miss. Prediction: Oklahoma #5 Wisconsin vs. #12 Oregon Wisconsin struggled mightily to score the ball this season. Oregon has won 10 games in a row, while winning the Pac 12 Championship. They has two talented guard Payton Pritchard, and Louis King, which will lead the Ducks past Wisconsin. Prediction: Oregon #4 Kansas State vs. #13 UC Irvine UC Irvine has been playing terrific, mowing through their conference tournament. When I look for an upset team I like the team to have a star they can lean on, when they begin to struggle. UC Irvine does not have that, so I expect K-State to squeeze by. Prediction: Kansas State #6 Villanova vs. #11 Saint Mary's Saint Mary's played a perfect game against Gonzaga to even get into the tournament. I think Villanova's experienced players Phil Booth, and Eric Paschall will be play themselves into the round of 32. Prediction: Villanova #3 Purdue vs. #14 Old Dominion Old Dominion is one of the feel good stories of the whole tournament. Their head coach Jeff Jones is currently battling prostate cancer, and I think Old Dominion will carry coach Jones into the next round. Prediction: Old Dominion Pictured above: Old Dominion head coach Jeff Jones #7 Cincinnati vs. #10 Iowa Cincinnati is one of the best defensive teams in the country, and they are led by AAC player of the year, guard Jaron Cumberland. Iowa has struggled as of late and I think their struggles will continue. Prediction: Cincinnati #2 Tennessee vs. #15 Colgate Tennessee will be incredibly motivated following a disappointing end to their regular season, so I expect them to roll. Prediction: Tennessee Round 2 (Round of 32) #1 Virginia vs. #9 Oklahoma Virginia's offensive fire power is arguably the best ever in the "Tony Bennet era." Kyle Guy is one of the best 3 point shooters in the country, DeAndre Hunter in one of the best defenders, and Ty Jerome is one of the best point guards. That trio will be way too much for Oklahoma. Prediction: Virginia #4 Kansas State vs. #12 Oregon Kansas State's best player, Dean Wade has struggled with injuries his whole career, and it may lead into the tournament. Oregon's Louis King will have no real competition on the wing and expect the Ducks to play themselves into the sweet 16. Prediction: Oregon Oregon celebrating a Pac 12 championship win, and a 10 game winning streak. #6 Villanova vs. #14 Old Dominion I think Old Dominion's lack of a top scorer, will prove to be too much to overcome. And Villanova will take advantage and advance into the next round. Prediction: Villanova #2 Tennessee vs. #7 Cincinnati The combination of veteran "all SEC level players" Admiral Schofield, Grant Williams, and Jordan Boone will not accept an upset, and they will get past Cincinnati. Prediction: Tennessee Sweet 16 (Round of 16) #1 Virginia vs. #12 Oregon Virginia's terrific defense, and depth will finally take advantage of Oregon's flaws, and the Ducks magical run will end here. Prediction: Virginia Virginia's star big 3 Kyle Guy (left), DeAndre Hunter (middle), Ty Jerome (right) #2 Tennessee vs. #6 Villanova This is quite an intriguing matchup. Villanova matches up well against Tennessee, Paschall v.s. Grant Williams, and Schofield vs. Booth. The x-factor in the game will be Jordan Boone vs. Colin Gillespie, and I trust Jordan Boone more than Gillespie. Prediction: Tennessee Elite 8 (Round of 8) #1 Virginia vs. #2 Tennessee Both Virginia and Tennessee are nearly identical teams. They again matchup very well. I think Virginia is tired of being the team that always "chokes." They will finally break through and make the final four. Prediction: Virginia Round 1 (Round of 64) Midwest Region #1 North Carolina vs. #16 Iona Iona is one of the weaker teams in the entire field, with a 17-15 record. UNC will dominate. Prediction: North Carolina #8 Utah State vs. #9 Washington Utah State is coming off a big Mountain West tournament championship and they are led by guard Sam Merrill. Washington has struggled tremendously the last few weeks, along with defensive star Matisse Thybulle, so I expect all of these trends to continue. Prediction: Utah State #5 Auburn vs. #12 New Mexico State New Mexico State may be a popular upset pick, but I think otherwise. Auburn's great run to the SEC tournament championship, and great three point shooting is too much to overlook. Jared Harper, and Bryce Brown will lead Auburn past New Mexico State. Prediction: Auburn #4 Kansas vs. #13 Northeastern Northeastern is another popular upset... but not so fast. Kansas has an all-american forward Dedric Lawson, and I think that he will help the Jayhawks avoid an upset. Prediction: Kansas #6 Iowa State vs. #11 Ohio State Iowa State looked terrific in their run to the Big 12 tournament championship. Mariol Shayok, and Lindell Wigginton will continue their hot streak past Ohio State. Prediction: Iowa State #3 Houston vs. #14 Georgia State Houston is another incredibly strong defensive team, who is led by all league forward Corey Davis Jr. Houston's combo of three point shooting and defense will lead them past Georgia State. Prediction: Houston #7 Wofford vs. #10 Seton Hall Wofford is led by guards Fletcher Magee, and Storm Murphy. This will be a great matchup against Seton Hall who has all Big East guard Myles Powell. Wofford was the only team that went undefeated in regular season conference play, I expect their depth to lead them past Seton Hall. Prediction: Wofford #2 Kentucky vs. #15 Abilene Christian Kentucky has one their most veteran teams in the "John Calipari era." I expect Kentucky to roll... but if I HAD to pick one 16 of 15 seed it would be Abilene Christian. Prediction: Kentucky Round 2 (Round of 32) #1 North Carolina vs. #8 Utah State I think Utah State's lack of depth after Sam Merrill will catch up to them. And UNC's big 3 of Coby White, Cameron Johnson, and Luke Maye will roll past Utah State Prediction: North Carolina #5 Auburn vs. #4 Kansas Kansas does not have a real identity of their team. I think Auburn having a great hot streak from behind the three point line will be lead them to the Sweet 16. Prediction: Auburn #3 Houston vs. #6 Iowa State Iowa State has too much fire power on offense to ignore. Iowa State's length and versatility will be too much for Kelvin Sampson's Houston squad. Prediction: Iowa State Iowa State's All-Big 12 forward Marial Shayok #2 Kentucky vs. #7 Wofford If Wofford were playing any other 2 seed I would pick them to win. But Kentucky's unbelievable depth to go along with experience is too important. Kentucky is led by Tyler Herro and P.J. Washington who have been elevating their play throughout the whole year and will lead Kentucky past Wofford. Prediction: Kentucky Sweet 16 (Round of 16) #1 North Carolina vs. #5 Auburn Auburn may have incredible three point shooting, but their defense lacks tremendously. I think Luke Maye will be big in this game and lead the Tar Heels past Auburn. Prediction: North Carolina #2 Kentucky vs. #6 Iowa State This games x-factor on Kentucky's side will be Keldon Johnson, and Iowa State's side Talen Horton-Tucker. Horton-Tucker has played more consistent as of late and I think he will lead Iowa State to the Elite 8. Prediction: Iowa State Elite 8 (Round of 8) #1 North Carolina vs. #6 Iowa State Iowa State and UNC are very similar teams. I think UNC is just a better version of Iowa State though. I think Coby White will dominate Lindell Wigginton, and lead UNC to another Final Four. Prediction: North Carolina Left to right: Coby White, Nassir Little, Cameron Johnson, Kenny Williams, Luke Maye FINAL FOUR #1 Gonzaga vs. #4 Virginia Tech Virginia Tech's front court depth is nothing close to what Gonzaga has and I think it will prove to be too much for Virginia Tech and Gonzaga gets back to the National Championship. Prediction: Gonzaga #1 Virginia vs. #1 North Carolina North Carolina and Virginia matchup very similarly. I would say North Carolina's big three of Maye, White, and Johnson is nearly just as good as Virginia's of Guy, Jerome, and Hunter. I like North Carolina's role players more than Virginia's therefore I think we see a rematch of Gonzaga UNC in the championship. Prediction: North Carolina NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP #1 Gonzaga vs. #1 North Carolina
Gonzaga has their most talented team of all time, so why not prove you're the best in the country by getting revenge over North Carolina on the biggest stage. And the Zags will be cutting down the nets in Minneapolis. Prediction: Gonzaga BY: Tony LiebertD.K. Metcalf is one of the most talked about prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft. He has been one of the most polarizing prospects of all time, and has been through a lot already in his short football career. High School Career DeKaylin Metcalf was 242nd ranked prospect by ESPN in the class of 2016. D.K. was one of the top wide receivers in his class from Oxford, Mississippi. In his time at high school he finished with 224 receptions 3,302 yards, and 49 touchdowns. D.K. eventually decided to stay home and attend Ole Miss, instead of other top schools like Auburn, Nebraska, and UCLA. College Career When D.K. arrived at Ole Miss, they clearly found out they got an incredibly talented receiver. As a freshman, Metcalf only appeared in two games after suffering a season ending foot injury. In his two games he only had two catches but, they both went for touchdowns, and 15 yards total. In his sophomore season D.K. appeared in all twelve games while collecting 39 catches, to go along with 646 yards and 7 touchdowns. He put himself in position for a great junior year. In the first seven games of the 2018 season D.K. collected 26 catches and 569 yards for 5 touchdowns. In week 8 of the season against Auburn, Metcalf left the game with a neck injury... In his short time at Ole Miss, D.K. clearly showed he has terrific NFL potential, and he is a special talent. Neck Injury It is unknown what the exact neck injury D.K. suffered in his junior season was, but the average neck surgery takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months to recover to 100 percent, and his injury required surgery. D.K. is obviously a super human athlete so that recovery time was most likely much quicker than the average. Anytime that a doctor has to cut into your neck, is just something that I would not want to experience. Even other football players like Peyton Manning or Arian Foster clearly were not the same players after their surgery. In a game of football, where contact is guaranteed, you definitely don't want to deal with neck injuries. D.K. suffered his neck injury in mid October, and was said to have went through a successful surgery on October 19th. And on January 25th, Adam Schefter tweeted that D.K. was cleared for football activity. That is 69 days after a doctor cut into his neck, he was able to participate in full contact drills. Even if the surgery wasn't THAT serious, a 69 day recovery time is just ridiculous. I think this picture should tell you enough about the severity of D.K's injury. NFL Combine After D.K's junior season, he was viewed by many as a potential first round pick, so he decided to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. D.K. was then invited to the NFL combine, which is an event where the top NFL Draft prospects are tested physically, with many position specific drills and athletic tests. They also are tested mentally with multiple rigorous almost "job like" interviews with almost all of the NFL teams. At the combine D.K. was the main talking point of the entire event as he impressed in almost all aspects possible. Body fat percentage: At the combine each player is also measured and weighed in front of many NFL scouts. Metcalf measured in at 6'3" 228 pounds, which is almost the ideal size for an NFL wide receiver. The most jaw dropping physical statistic was his body fat percentage... 1.6%... yes 1.6, some said that the machine would almost have to be broken, but I have read that they used the most accurate machine possible. In all seriousness D.K's personal trainer Joe DeFranco said the 1.6 percent body fat was a mistaken measurement, and a person with body fat that low would be in danger of dying of malnutrition. DeFranco also stated, “You need at least 3 percent body fat for your organs to function,” he said. “If somebody’s body fat percentage legitimately dips under 2 percent, that’s not an impressive physique. That’s a medical emergency. Get that person to the hospital ASAP before they die. It’s not something we’re looking at and going, ‘Wow, how impressive.’ That person needs their life to be saved.” So in conclusion this number was ridiculous while it lasted, but it was clearly a mistake. Above is a photo of D.K (on the right) and his former Ole Miss teammate wide receiver A.J. Brown (on the left) following a workout. Bench Press: In the NFL combine each participant tries to see how many reps of 225 pounds they can do on the bench press. D.K. did 27. Which ranked tied for 30th out of all participants in the competition, and tied for 1st out of all wide receivers with N'Keal Harry from Arizona State. 27 reps is also ties the record for most reps of all time Bobby Foster. With this ridiculous bench press on the first night of the combine, D.K. showed the NFL to be prepared for a show. Vertical Jump: In the vertical jump test Mr. Metcalf jumped 40.5 inches in the air. That would rank him tied for 8th in the out of all players and tied for 3rd out of all wide receivers, and not too far behind the combine record of 45 inches set by Chris Conley. With an absurd vertical, at his size, D.K. showed the NFL that he win jump balls against any cornerback in the league. 40 Yard Dash: In the 40 yard dash D.K. ran a 4.33 yes... 4.33 at his size. That ranked him tied for third in the whole combine and with wide receivers. With both these absurd athletic tests, D.K. showed every scout he has all the athleticism you want from a number one receiver in the NFL. **D.K. was also 5th in entire combine in the broad jump at 11'2" D.K. was very emotional following his 40 yard dash after he realized how grateful he was to even competing in the combine following his neck surgery. The bad of D.K's combine You may think, "Bad? how can someone's combine be considered bad after those numbers." Three Cone Drill/Shuttle Drill: The three cone drill and shuttle drill are both tests of change of direction speed I would have the video of the great Tom Brady running both these drills but, NFL (no fun league) has extremely strict copyright rules so I'll give you the link and you can watch it on your own. Here is an example of what the three cone and shuttle drill entails, the great Tom Brady ran a 4.38 shuttle drill (which is the first drill in the video) and 7.2 cone drill (the second drill). You can click on the link below... https://youtu.be/sJsq5uP7IjI?t=52 Now you may watch that video and think, "Wow the so called greatest NFL player of all time doesn't look real athletic." Which I agree. Now D.K. Metcalf on the other hand ran slower in both drills. He ran a 4.5 shuttle drill and a 7.38 three cone drill. That is just one of the most confusing things ever how a behemoth superhuman such as D.K. Metcalf can, be the slowest receiver in the three cone drill, and the second slowest in the shuttle drill. Why is this significant? In the game of football as a player who carries the ball, I would argue that change of direction speed is much more important than straight line speed. So D.K. showed he can run really fast in a straight line, but he is unbelievably slow when he has to change direction. Especially as a wide receiver who has one single route where he runs in a straight line. And every other one requires top of the line change of direction speed. I still believe that D.K. will be a great NFL wide receiver (in the right situation) and I wish him the best in the rest of his career, but nobody could argue that he is quite the interesting prospect.
BY: Tony LiebertArguing who the greatest high school football player is always quite the popular topic. I struggled to do the same, but I decided to just find the best at each position. Players like Marcus Dupree, Randy Moss, and Dick Butkus would obviously belong on this list, but I decided to rank the best players from the "internet" era, with 2003 being the earliest player on the list. QB: Kyler Murray, Allen High School, Texas Stats (3 Years, 43 Starts): 10,388 Passing Yards, 117 Passing TDs, 21 INTs, 499 Carries, 4,196 Rushing Yards, 67 TDs 49-0 Record 3 State Championships Kyler Murray is not just they greatest high school quarterback of all time, he is the greatest player regardless of position. With a combination of those ridiculous stats, an absurd 49-0 record with three state championships, and lastly unbelievable highlights in Texas of all places... there is nothing else you could want to see a high school QB do. Murray decided to originally to attend Texas A&M. In his freshman season Murray saw the field very inconsistently where he struggled. He then decided to transfer to Oklahoma where last season he obviously had a ridiculous heisman winning season last year, and will be a first round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Honorable Mention: QB: Terrelle Pryor, Jeannette High School, Pennsylvania RB: Derrick Henry, Yulee High School, Florida Stats (4 years, 48 GP): 1,397 Carries, 12,124 Rushing Yards, 153 Touchdowns Similarly to Murray, Derrick Henry's had unrealistic stats combined with an ability to humiliate defenders in high school. Henry obviously put together a ridiculous high school career, and it led into the same in college. In three seasons at Alabama, Henry had a total of 3,876 scrimmage yards to along with 45 total touchdowns, Henry was awarded the 2015 heisman trophy after his junior season. After his junior season Henry was selected with the 45th pick in the 2016 NFL draft. He is coming off his best season of 1,059 yards and 12 touchdowns. Derrick Henry is currently 25 years old and should have a much expanded role next season for the Titans. Honorable Mention: RB: Leonard Fournette, Saint Augustine High School, Louisiana WR: Dorial Green-Beckham, Hillcrest High School, Missouri Stats (3 years, 47 GP): 300 receptions, 6,356 Receiving Yards, 74 Touchdowns Dorial Green-Beckham was clearly in a league of his own. He could take it to the house anytime he touched to ball. His combination of insane speed and size, made him nearly unstoppable. Green-Beckham eventually decided to attend the university of Missouri where he has 1,278 yards and 17 touchdowns in two seasons. He was later picked 40th overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2013 NFL Draft. He struggled mightily to find a roll in the NFL where he had 941 yards and and 6 touchdowns in a short 2 year career. Dorial is currently unemployed and only 25 years old. Honorable Mentions: WR: Julio Jones, Foley High School, Alabama WR: Percy Harvin, Landstown High School, Virginia OL: La'el Collins, Redemptorist High School, Louisiana Stats: n/a Collins dominated throughout his high school career which led to him being the 8th overall recruit in the class of 2011. After high school, Collins decided to attend Louisiana State University. He dominated, becoming an all-american his senior season. After working out some legal issues Collins was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a undrafted free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft. The past four seasons Collins has played a big role in the Cowboys o-line. La'el Collins is currently 25 years old and has a lot of football in front of him. Honorable Mention: OL: Kardell Thomas, Southern University Lab School, Louisiana DL: Jadeveon Clowney, South Pointe High School, South Carolina Stats (2 Years, 46 GP): 306 Tackles, 55.5 Sacks Clowney was dominant in high school which led to him being the consensus number one overall prospect in the 2011 draft class. Clowney decided to attend South Carolina where his dominance continued. In three seasons Clowney had 24 sacks and 47 tackles for loss. Clowney then was selected first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. Clowney started out slow, but he has had 18.5 sacks and 79 total tackles the past two seasons. Jadeveon Clowney is currently 26 years old, and will be a hot commodity on the free agent market this offseason. Honorable Mentions: DL: Myles Garrett, James Martin High School, Texas DL: Rashan Gary, DT, Paramus Catholic, New Jersey DL: Da'Quan Bowers, Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, South Carolina LB: Manti Te'o, Punahou School, Hawaii Stats: n/a Even though Manti Te'o doesn't have unreal stats that are publicized like the rest of these player, he may have the best highlights. Te'o was the consensus number one overall prospect in the 2009 class. He later decided to attend the university of Notre Dame. In his four seasons with the Irish Te'o had 437 total tackles, while finishing second in the heisman voting in his senior season. Te'o was selected 38th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. Manti has been a relatively average player in the NFL being a boarderline starter for the majority of his career. Manti Te'o is currently 28 years old and still on the New Orleans Saints roster. Te'o may go down as the greatest football player from the state of Hawaii. Honorable Mentions: LB: Ernie Simms, North Florida Christian School, Florida LB: Jaylon Smith, Bishop Luers High School, Indiana DB: Ted Ginn Jr, Glenville High School, Ohio Stats: n/a Ted Ginn's high school stats are very tough to find but, he was utilized similar to someone further down this list. After Ginn's historic high school career he was the consensus number one overall player in the class of 2004. After high school Ginn decided to attend Ohio State. At Ohio State Ginn was utilized at a wide receiver instead of a defensive back. In his three seasons for the Buckeyes, Ginn had 2,156 yards from scrimmage to go along with 28 total touchdowns. Ginn was then selected 9th overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He has been the classic homerun play receiver in the NFL, bouncing around from the Dolphins, 49ers, Panthers, Cardinals, and Saints. Ted Ginn Jr is currently 33 years old and entering his 13th year with the New Orleans Saints. Honorable Mentions: DB: Eric Berry, Creekside High School, Georgia DB: Derwin James, Haines City High School, Florida ATH: Jabrill Peppers, Paramus Catholic, New Jersey Stats (3 Years, 34 GP): OFFENSE: 373 carries, 3,059 rushing yards, 43 rushing touchdowns, 57 receptions, 842 receiving yards, 17 receiving touchdowns DEFENSE: 90 tackles, 2 sacks, 7 INTs Peppers clearly put up unbelievable stats in high school. He was the second ranked player in the class of 2014, and then committed to the university of Michigan. Where in three seasons he had 119 total tackles, 18.5 for loss, 3 sacks, to go along with 1 interception on defense. On offense he had 239 rushing yards to along with 82 receiving and 5 total touchdowns, to go along with one punt return. Jabrill was then selected 25th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, and has had a successful career in his first two seasons with Browns. Peppers is currently 23 years old and has a lot of football ahead of himself
BY: Tony LiebertAs a basketball fan, watching the highlights of all the top high school players is something that has been very popular in the internet era. This ranking will obviously not include LeBron James, Michael Jordan, or Kobe Bryant. Every player on this list will be from what I call the "mixtape" era. The oldest player I have on this list is from 2009. I also decided not to include any player that has not yet graduated from high school. I could really make this list a top 50, but I decided to narrow it down to my top 10. Honorable Mentions
10. Mac McClung, G, Gate City High School, Virginia Where is Mac McClung Now? Mac McClung was unranked in the class of 2018 by ESPN, and was ranked 245th by 247sports.com. Mac later decided to commit to the University of Georgetown. He is currently a freshman at Georgetown and this season he has averaged 13.5 points per game and has started every game this season. Mac is currently 19 years old and clearly has a long career in basketball ahead of himself. 9. Brandon Jennings, PG, Oak Hill Academy, California Where is Brandon Jennings Now? Brandon Jennings was the first ranked player in the 2008 class, by ESPN in the inaugural top 100 rankings. Jennings then decided to forgo college and play overseas for Italian club Lottomatica Roma. He left Italy after one season and then entered the NBA Draft, and was selected 10th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks. Jennings then bounced around the league while being wildly inconsistent, being the youngest player ever to score 50+ points, getting getting multiple triple doubles, but he struggled to find consistency. Jennings played with the Bucks, Pistons, Magic, Knicks, and then Wizards. Jennings then went back overseas to play for Chinese club Shanxi Brave Dragons where he played very well, averaging 27.8 points per game. He then returned to the NBA playing the Bucks G-League team, the Wisconsin Herd. He eventually made it back the NBA and signed a multi-year contract all the way back to where he started with the Bucks. He was later waived. Brandon Jennings is now 29 years old and most recently played for Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg. Jennings is currently unemployed. 8. Austin Rivers, G, Winter Park High School, Florida Where is Austin Rivers now? Austin Rivers was the third ranked player in the class of 2011 by ESPN. Rivers decided to commit to Duke University. He only played at Duke for one season where he averaged 15.5 points per game, and hit one of the most memorable game winning shots in recent memory against UNC in Chapel Hill. Rivers was later selected 10th overall by the New Orleans Hornets in 2012 NBA Draft. Rivers was incredibly average, eventually being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers where his father Doc Rivers was the head coach and still is. He had his best season in 2017-18 where he averaged 15.1 points per game. Rivers was traded to the Wizards the following season, and then was traded to the Houston Rockets where he is currently playing this season averaging 10.5 points per game and is still only 26 years old. 7. Marcus LoVett Jr, PG, Morgan Park High School, Chicago Where is Marcus LoVett Jr now? Marcus LoVett was unranked by ESPN in the class of 2015 and ranked 97th by 247Sports.com. LoVett had plenty of top offers including, Kansas, UCLA, and Michigan State. LoVett eventually decided to sign with Saint Johns. In his freshman season LoVett average 15.9 points per game and was an unanimous all-freshman Big East team member. In his Sophomore season LoVett was averaging 14.9 points per game until he suffered a season ending knee injury. LoVett then decided to leave Saint Johns and pursue a professional career overseas. Where he is currently playing for Italian club Dinamo Sassari. LoVett Jr is currently 22 years old. 6. Aaron Gordon, F, Archbishop Mitty High School, California Where is Aaron Gordon now? Aaron Gordon was the fourth ranked prospect in the class of 2013 by ESPN. He later decided to commit to the University of Arizona. Gordon was another "one and done" player in college and, in one season for U of A Gordon averaged 12.4 points per game. Gordon was later the fourth pick overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, and was selected by the Orlando Magic. Gordon has been a relatively average NBA starting caliber player in his five year career with the Magic he has averaged 12.2 points and 6.1 rebounds. The highlight of his Gordon's career has been his ridiculous dunk contest against Zach Lavine. Gordon is still only 24 years old and has a long NBA career ahead of him. 5. Aquille Carr, PG, Patterson High School, Maryland Where is Aquille Carr now? Aquille car was not ranked in the ESPN top 100 for the class of 2013, but he was ranked 125th in the country by 247sports.com. Aquille had offers from UConn, Texas, and Seton Hall to name a few. Aquille originally decided to commit to Seton Hall. Going into Carr's senior year he was arrested in his hometown of Baltimore on charges of assaulting the mother of his child. In 2013 Carr was drafted by the Delaware 87ers in the third round of the NBA Development League Draft. He was shortly released, per his request after not receiving much playing time. In 2014, Carr signed with the Saint John Mill Rats of the Canadian National Basketball League, and was later released after averaging 12.9 points in 9 games. In 2016, Carr signed with the Baltimore Hawks of the American Basketball Association, it is not publicized how well Carr played during his time with the Hawks but he left the team after one season. In 2017 Carr signed with Girne Universitesi Sk of the Cypriot North League. It is now said that Carr is playing the 2018-19 season in Mexico. Aquille Carr is still ONLY 25 years old. 4. Seventh Woods, G/F, Hammond School, South Carolina Where is Seventh Woods now? Seventh went incredibly viral after this mixtape from his freshman year. Woods was ranked as the 58th player in the country by ESPN. He then later decided to attend the University of North Carolina. Woods has only averaged 1.9 points in a small role of 8.9 minutes per game in his three years at UNC. Seventh Woods is only 20 years old and I expect him to have a long basketball career ahead of him. 3. Thon Maker, C, Carlisle School, Virginia Where is Thon Maker now? Thon Maker was ranked as the number one player in the country in the class 2016, as a Sophomore by ESPN. Thon had offers from Kansas, Kentucky, and Indiana just to name a few. Thon decided to forgo college and enter the NBA Draft. Although it was discussed how old Thon really is/was, but at the time of the 2016 NBA Draft Thon was said to be 19 and therefore he was allowed to enter the NBA. Thon was then selected 10th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks. Thon has struggled to find a role in the NBA only averaging 4.5 points in 13.7 minutes per game in his four seasons. This season Thon was recently traded from the Bucks to the Detroit Pistons, and hopefully Thon is able to find a role with Detroit and turn around his NBA career. Thon Maker is still only 21 years old, and still has immense potential. 2. John Wall, PG, Word of God Christian Academy, North Carolina Where is John Wall? John Wall was the third ranked player in the class of 2009 by ESPN. John chose to attend the University of Kentucky, instead of other schools like Kansas and Duke. John only played one season at Kentucky and averaged at 16.6 points, and 6.5 assist per game, while being awarded SEC player of the year. He was then selected first overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft. John has been a boarderline all-star his entire career, where in his best season he averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists per game. About a month ago John tore his achilles while returning from heel surgery. Wall is expected to miss at least twelve months, and I expect him to come back stronger than ever. John is currently 28 years old, and hopefully still has good years to play in the NBA. 1. Zion Williamson, F, Spartanburg Day School, South Carolina Where is Zion Williamson is now?
Zion was the second overall ranked player in the class of 2018 by ESPN. Zion chose to attend Duke, instead of other big schools such as Kentucky, Kansas, and UCLA. Zion has 100% lived up to all of the hype that he had he has put together just as good highlights at Duke, compared to high school. He has averaged 21.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, while shooting a ridiculous 66.9 percent from the field. Zion is almost a guarantee to be the number one pick in the NBA's upcoming draft, and has one of the most talked about basketball careers ahead of himself. BY: Tony Liebert10. Vinícius Júnior, Real Madrid (18 Years Old) Vinícius Júnior is a forward for Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid. Early in his soccer career Júnior has had unreal expectations. In 2017, Real Madrid signed a contract to acquire Vinícius, effective after his 18th birthday on 12 July 2018 (as age 18 is the minimum age for international transfer). He transferred for a reported fee of €46 million, which was at the time, the second most expensive sale of a player in the history of Brazilian football (behind only Neymar). From that alone, Vinícius is clearly an unbelievably talented player for the defending Champions League winners, to spend that much money on the transfer of an 18 year old. Vinícius is currently a full time starter for Real Madrid and has 2 goals in 12 total appearances. Although Vinícius has arguably not handled his expectations well, but I expect the uberly talented forward to keep improving for Real Madrid. 9. Kardell Thomas, LSU Tigers, Commit (18 Years Old) Kardell Thomas is a 6'3" 350 pound high school senior. Thomas currently attends Southern University Lab School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Thomas is a consensus four star recruit and the 56th ranked player in the 2019 class by ESPN, he is the second ranked guard in the country. If you watch both of these videos, you will agree with me that those to rankings are down right ridiculous. I don't understand how you watch Kardell play and think there is any other High School lineman you would rather want. Thomas is quite possibly the most physically dominating high school football player, in the "Internet Era." Kardell obviously has serious NFL potential and I am quite excited what the future holds for the big man. 8. Chloe Kim, Snowboarding (18 Years Old) If you payed attention to the last winter olympics, you defiantly saw how dominant Chloe Kim is. At the 2014 winter olympics it was said that Chloe could've been very successful competing at only the age of 14, but 16 is the minimum age to compete. While only being a ridiculous 15 years old at the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix, Chloe became the first woman to land back-to-back 1080 spins in a snowboarding competition. She also scored a perfect 100 points, and is believed to be the second rider ever to do so, after Shaun White. Last year in her first time competing in the Winter Olympics, Chloe took Gold in the Women's Halfpipe finals. Her first was 93.75 points. 8.5 points ahead of second place. Her last score in the Halfpipe was close to a perfect score at, 98.25 points. She was nearly 10 points ahead of the woman who placed 2nd. She was also the youngest woman to ever land two 1080-degree spins in a row at the Olympics. At age 17 she became the youngest woman to ever win gold at the Olympics. Her complete dominance early on in her career should be enough proof that she has the potential to be one of the most dominant ATHLETES not just females, of all time. You can watch her perfect 100 run below. 7. Matthijs de Ligt, Ajax (19 Years Old) Matthijs de Light is a Dutch professional soccer player, who plays defender for Ajax of the Eredivisie league (top league in the Netherlands). De Light quickly quickly shot up the youth ranks in Netherlands and On May 24th 2017, de Ligt became the youngest player ever (17 years and 285 days old) to play in a European Cup Final when he started against Manchester United in the 2017 UEFA Europa League Final. In de Light's next season he became the youngest team captain in Ajax history. Last year de Ligt won the Golden Boy award (best soccer player in the world under the age of 21) and became the first defender to win the award. De Light may just be the best teenage soccer player in the world, and has been a target by all of the biggest clubs in Europe. 6. LaMelo Ball, Spire Institute (17 Years Old) LaMelo has obviously been in an incredible spotlight since he has been 14 years old and he is incredibly well known world wide, with having 4.2 million followers on Instagram. I believe that LaMelo is the most talented out of the three ball brothers, and by a wide margin. In LaMelo's entire life his a been playing against people substantially older than him. When LaMelo was a sophomore in high school he scored 92 points in a single game. I don't care if you think those were all cherry picks, or that he doesn't play any defense. 92 points at any level in any circumstance is down right ridiculous. Since this game LaMelo has obviously played basketball all over the world. I think the helped him mature as a basketball player dramatically. LaMelo is a much better defender and overall basketball player than he was during his time at Chino Hills. LaMelo is currently enrolled at Spire Institute, in Geneva Ohio. He is currently averaging 20.4 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists, against some of the best prep schools in the country. LaMelo is clearly mature beyond his years, overruling his father Lavar and deciding to go back to High School (which was clearly the right decision). So whatever LaMelo's path to the NBA ends up being I think he will be able to block out the noise and have a very successful career. 5. Mikey Williams, Basketball (14 Years Old) Mikey Williams is a 14 year old basketball player, who is the consensus number one overall player in the 2023 class. Williams has unbelievable athleticism and he is able to dunk with tremendous ease. Mikey bursted on to the scene when he was on Bronny James' (LeBron's son obviously) AAU team the North Coast Blue Chips. 14 years old is obviously very early to start scouting any athlete of any age, but you can tell Mikey is special. He is currently said 6'2" and many people expect him to keep growing, so height is not a problem. Already having a relationship with one of the best teenage athletes ever LeBron James, which will clearly help Mikey handle the insane expectations. Mikey Williams clearly has a gift to play the game of basketball, and I am incredibly intrigued to see what his future holds. He has put together a highlight tape at 14 arguably better than anyone else ever has. 4. Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Toronto Blue Jays (19 Years Old) Vladimir Guerrero Jr is the arguably best prospect in all of baseball since Mike Trout, or Bryce Harper. Guerrero Jr's father is obviously a future hall of famer, and I think Vlad junior might be better. Last season in a combination of levels in the minor leagues he batted .381, hit 20 homers, and 78 RBIs in only 95 games. Vladimir has not played a game yet for the Blue Jays, but this season I expect him to take the MLB by storm and put everyone on notice how good he is. Vlad is one of the best pure hitting prospects in years. He is all you want in an elite level power hitter, he obviously is extremely gifted, and has a picture perfect swing. The Blue Jays are still taking their time with Guerrero and he may not be on Toronto's opening day roster. I understand that the Blue Jays want to protect their precious talent, but Guerrero needs to be in the Major Leagues. Whenever Guerrero gets called up to the MLB, I expect him to be one of the best hitters in baseball, and he will take the league by storm. 3. Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks (19 Years Old) Unlike the next man on this list Luka isn't an all world athlete, but may be the best teenage basketball player of all time. Like I said in my recent article about Luka here. He is easily one of the most decorated teenage athletes of all time. In his teenage years he was playing in the second best basketball career in the world, against grown men. Compared to how players like LeBron James played against children in high school. Luka achieved everything possible in the Euro League and in his short career in the NBA he has done nothing short of that. So far this season Luka has been averaging 20.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. With those numbers he practically has the rookie of the year award already won. Luka is arguably one of the greatest European teenage athletes of all time regardless of sport, and he has proven to be as dominant if not more in America. 2. Zion Williamson, Duke Blue Devils (18 Years Old) You could put the top three athletes in any order, and have a good argument for any of them. Zion might be the most athletic 6'7" 280 pound human being of all time, and I don't think that is an exaggeration. It has been said that Zion has a 45" vertical... 45. Williamson also produced the greatest high school basketball highlights of the internet era if anyone argues that... they should never watch sports again. That is just ridiculous a human being should not be able to do that at that size. Zion came into Duke, possibly being the most hyped high school prospect of all time. This season I think lived up to all the hype and then some. Zion is averaging 22 points a game, and 9.3 rebounds, while shooting 68 percent from the field. That puts him 18th in the country in scoring while being 10th in field goal percentage. Those are just ridiculous stats for any Freshman, I don't care if you're a man child. Zion has feats of athleticism while playing basketball, that make me legitimately believe that he should be in the argument for the GREATEST ATHLETE OF ALL TIME. Yes at 18 years old I think Zion has the potential to be the greatest athlete of all time. Zion is just down right a super human. 1. Trevor Lawrence, Clemson Tigers (19 Years Old) Trevor Lawrence will be a top five quarterback when his career is over (which you can read more about here). So far in his very short football career, he broke Deshaun Watson's Georgia state passing yards record in high school. While going 51-4 and winning two Georgia state championships in his career. Lawrence then went on to be the number one prospect in the entire country, then he committed to Clemson. At Clemson Lawrence earned the starting job from Kelly Bryant, a very good quarterback who led Clemson to the College Football Playoff the season before. Then after Lawrence took over the starting job, he just made College Football look like Pop Warner. He just effortlessly led Clemson to an undefeated season and a win against an Alabama team that was considered by many as the "greatest college football team of all time." In his freshman season Lawrence made unreal throw after unreal throw look so easy. He is easily one of the most talented quarterbacks of all time. In Lawrence's young career he has just dominated at every level, while not really even looking like he's putting in effort. Lawrence has been one of the greatest teenage quarterbacks of all time. Quarterback is the hardest position to play in all of sports, so that is why Trevor Lawrence is the greatest teenage athlete in the world. BY: Tony LiebertWhat is the AAF? AAF stands for the Alliance of American of Football. If you don't want to sound like you're talking about an assurance company, just call it "The Alliance." The AAF was designed to be an alternative path for getting back to the NFL. Instead of playing in Arena football of in the CFL in Canada players are now able to play in America during their path back to the NFL. The only rule differences are...
The Alliance has 8 teams, The San Antonio Commanders, San Diego Fleet, Orlando Apollos, Atlanta Legends, Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Arizona Hotshots, and the Salt Lake Stallions. They are going to have a 10 week regular season, capping off with a four team playoff, leading up to the AAF championship on April 27th. This weekend was the Alliance's opening week. Recapping Week 1 The league kicked off Saturday night with two games. San Antonio Commanders V.S. San Diego Fleet The Commanders are coached by former Nebraska head coach Mike Riley. San Antonio is led by QB Logan Woodside. His name may sound familiar he had a very successful career at Toledo, and was drafted in the 7th round of last years NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, and he obviously struggled to find a spot on the team. Woodside played terrific this week and showed that he can be one of the stars of the Alliance. The Fleet are headlined by quarterback Mike Bercovici, who had his own successful career at Arizona State. San Diego looked quite over matched in this game, struggling to move the ball. This biggest moment of this game was when Bercovici got completely mauled with his helmet popping off and no penalty being called. I am obviously all for no targeting penalties. This was arguably the most talked about moment of the weekend. Commanders: 16 Fleet: 5 Orlando Apollos V.S. Atlanta Legends I was not able to watch this game, there was only one game on CBS depending on your market area. My biggest complaint so far is, that there is no way for me to see the score of the game, or the stats, which is just ridiculous not to have in today "technology era." I do know that the Apollos are coached by former South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier. And they have former NFL quarterback Garrett Gilbert. The Atlanta Legends originally had Michael Vick as their offensive coordinator, but he left the team for unknown reasons. The Legends are led by former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray who actually lost the starting QB job to Matt Simms. They also have former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson, who is now playing running back. And lastly they have the Instagram kicking legend Younghoe Koo. The highlight of this game was Steve Spurrier's "Orlando Special" call. That led to complete dominance. Apollos: 40 Legends: 6 Younghoe Koo hitting an insane trick shot. The weekend was caped of with one afternoon game and one night game on Sunday. Birmingham Iron V.S. Memphis Express The Birmingham Iron are led by "all time bust" Trent Richardson. Richardson had himself a classic Richardson performance with 23 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns. The Memphis Express are led by fellow bust Christian Hackenberg, I don't have Hackenberg's stats but I watched the game and he still looked terrible. I don't think he even had over 100 yards passing. The Iron's defense dominated this game and look like they could be the best team in the league. I would say the highlight of this game was just the reassurance that Trent Richardson and Christian Hackenberg still aren't NFL level talent, but I am still rooting for them. The Iron are my favorite, to take home the championship. Iron: 26 Express: 0 Arizona Hotshots V.S. Salt Lake Stallions The Hotshots have a very well known coaching staff with formal NFL head coach Rick Neuheisel, and former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze, who will bring some much needed controversy to the Alliance. I mean what a football league without a head coach that made 12 calls to an escort service, and calls himself an incredibly christian man. The Stallions are led by Minnesota Viking "all time great" Matt Asiata and they are coached by former NFL head coach Dennis Erickson. This game was relatively uneventful, but the Hotshots are clearly one of the better teams in the league led by quarterback John Wollford who had a solid performance. Hotshots: 38 Stallions: 22 Is their success obtainable? The Alliance's opening week was clearly a success. They had a higher overnight rating in their Saturday Night games than the NBA's "Saturday Night Primetime" matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets. They was also a lot of good publicity going out on Twitter all weekend. I think this league clearly has the possibility to be successful. I think right away the football consumers are enjoying this league so much, because it's right after the NFL season, so they just want football season to keep going. With the current design I don't think it will be successful in the long run. Their biggest strength is their NFL level coaching, which is the hardest part. All of the alternative football leagues have struggled to get big name coaches in the past. At the end of the day people watch for the players, they need to have more stars, when your biggest name is Trent Richardson, I don't think you're going to very popular in the long run. What is the league's future? If you have top level stars to promote, it obviously will draw more fans to your league. I think you can have "Star" level players in the AAF if underclass college football players being leaving college and joining the Alliance. Similar to Herschel Walker, did with leaving Georgia for USFL after his Sophomore season. I think this would be possible for a number of college prospects that are clearly superior to their talent in the NCAA. If the Alliance is able to form into a developmental league, or an alternative path to get to the NFL out of college. I think it could be very successful. I think this is the leagues long term goal. Bill Polian (the leagues president) has stated that they don't want to take over the NFL, they want their players to get back there. If this is true I see this league being very successful. At the end of the day people are always going to watch football if it's there, especially if it's good football. Obvious Changes
If they just make some obvious changes online, and on social media, they have the ability to be much more successful as a league. All of theses changes are quite obvious and very simple to change. It almost makes me think, do they realize that people like to use the internet in 2019? What I do like
Overall I really like the changes that the Alliance has made and I think they has a great base to grow their league off of. With just some obvious changes, I think they can be a successful alternative football league to the NFL.
